What you should know about unproven ADHD therapies
Parents will do anything to help their child. Unfortunately, this makes parents vulnerable to a variety of unproven therapies. The American Academy of Pediatrics currently recommends against the following methods for treating ADHD:
- Vision therapy
- Auditory integration therapy
- Sensory integration training
- Dietary supplements
- Megavitamin treatment
- Herbal, antioxidant and nootropic treatments
- Special diets (Evidence-based research shows that ADHD does not improve with elimination diets, sugar-free diets, aspartame-free diets or yeast-free diets.)
- Hypnotherapy
- Kinesiology
- Homeopathy
