What you should know about unproven ADHD therapies

Parents will do anything to help their child. Unfortunately, this makes parents vulnerable to a variety of unproven therapies. The American Academy of Pediatrics currently recommends against the following methods for treating ADHD:

  • Vision therapy
  • Auditory integration therapy
  • Sensory integration training
  • Dietary supplements
  • Megavitamin treatment
  • Herbal, antioxidant and nootropic treatments
  • Special diets (Evidence-based research shows that ADHD does not improve with elimination diets, sugar-free diets, aspartame-free diets or yeast-free diets.)
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Kinesiology
  • Homeopathy
