Attentive and invested, Alex Hager incorporates a strengths-based approach in guiding parents and children to engage with one another. By identifying past and present successes as a positive way to address current challenges, he helps families thrive. Alex creates a constructive environment where children and families, and particularly young adults, can feel comfortable communicating and receiving encouragement.
His areas of interest:
- Creating positive change and strengthening connections between parents and children
- Working with couples to open lines of communication and support
- Helping teenage boys navigate challenging phases and situations in their lives by listening and providing solutions
- Engaging in a team approach that includes medical professionals working alongside behavior specialists to treat the entire individual, not just physical ailments
As a licensed therapist, Alex spent eight years supporting severely abused and neglected children at Jasper Mountain SAFE Center. Prior to that, he worked with highly stressed families at Children’s Center in Vancouver, Washington.
Alex earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in history and religion from Walla Walla University. He went on to complete his master’s in marriage and family therapy at George Fox University.
A father to two young children, Alex likes to be active outdoors, jogging, hiking and biking. He also enjoys quiet time, reading a good book. Family and church life is important to Alex and his wife. They enjoy traveling and taking day trips to explore the Oregon Coast.
